Great place for kids, older ones can jump from stone landing, little ones have tide pools and a beach depending on the tide. Good place to put paddle boards in off the parking lot. Parking can be tight at peak times. Bathrooms and a few covered picnic areas available. Large grassy area for kids to run and play. I love to watch sunset here and wait for Hilo lights to come on over the bay.

2 lovely parks (Japanese & Hawaiian) as you walk to the island. Island has lava & sand with multiple entry points into the water. Very calm, good for kids but also has spots to jump into the water from. Didn't see any sea life but there was a guy unsuccessfully fishing ...

This is a really fun place to play, walk, picnic, or swim. Definitely worth checking out! Walk across the bridge and visit this little island.

A beautiful park to picnic, swim or just walks around. There are picnic tables, outdoor shower, and restroom. I found a rare moment with nobody on the beautiful, small sandy beaches. The tower is a very popular place for people to jump It's the water.

Nice little island with many areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Tide pools to wade through, and areas that are accessible for snorkeling. We watched the Carnival Miracle leave port, and enjoyed the start of the sunset. Kids played in the Lava around the island and had fun looking for critters.

Very relaxing place in the island. The park is lush and flat, while the surrounding border is filled with old lava! You can see Mauna Kea, and downtown Hilo. There are historical ruins there too. There are tables, benches, restrooms and a gazebo. It gets busy in the weekends but everyone is friendly.

A fun place to spend an hour. My son really enjoyed playing in the two small beaches. I've heard sea turtles often visit but we didn't have any such luck.
